I’ve been a Laker fan since I was 11. Sat through the tail end of ‘Showtime’ and witnessed the advent (….decline as well as farewell) of Kobe Bryant. I keep mentioning him but he’s not my favourite player. He’s just on my favourite team who once was a rookie playing alongside my favourite player.
The team is at it’s lowest since 4 seasons back and it’s never turned around. Tough for Laker fans everywhere, but as the saying goes – #Loyal. We don’t jump ship just because we don’t look like the championship team of the good ‘ol days.
Today, we have a nice young squad that can only get better with time (that and the addition of really solid free agents and draft picks). Nevertheless, the game is still intriguing to watch with so many heroes and villains (Russ/KD) and plot twists (Celtics/Cleveland). There were so many dramatics like these back in the late 80s/90s – main reason I got into the world of sneakers in the first place.
With the Purple & Gold out for the post season, I’ll be rooting for the Spurs. Two words: Coach Pop (alright five words…and Kahwi Leonard).
Playoff begins tomorrow, Sunday! (Singapore Time)
