Nothing But Net

I used to sit on the basketball court in school a lot. Before belting out ‘Majulah Singapura’ in the the morning at assembly, during recess (I’d take my plate of food out there to eat) and even after school when everyone had gone home.

Sometimes, I’d take naps on the dusty concrete if there was time to kill before the next period. With all this time spent outside, I eventually met the -secondary school- love of my life….(she was on the netball team). Life was good when training happened on the same day. But that’s another story for another time.

Point was, I loved being there. This was my dance floor, it was simple and I was free.

That’s me – between Coach Kang J.Y. and the late Chiang Tee (in blue). Happier times. Rest in peace dude.

Fast forward two decades later, I play…though not as often. And I fondly remember a time I felt a certain way about courtship and camaraderie. This post is dedicated to my love for the game, the faithful departed and my knees.
